DURHAM, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation said no Friday to a proposed noise wall along Interstate 85.
Parents and school officials from Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet School in Durham pushed for a wall to buffer the noise from the highway.
The DOT said the $1.4 million project is too costly.
Supporters said they will continue to lobby for the barrier.
The state plans to add four lanes to the stretch of I-85 that runs behind the school.
