Durham Day Care Shut Down; Owner Charged

DURHAM, N.C. — The Hop, Skip and Jump Daycare on Benning Street has been shut down indefinitely and its owner has been chargd with child abuse.

A former employee of the home day-care center told police that its owner, Toki Holden, was giving children Nyquil and assaulted a child.

After hearing the allegations, Child Protective Services tried to inspect the day-care center, Wednesday, but said no one would let them in. A short time later they were able to get inside.

Holden is charged with three counts of misdemeanor child abuse.
