WILMINGTON, N.C. — A dog in Wilmington can thank a firefighter for being alive.

A brave firefighter rushed past the flames to rescue the dog from a burning home.

It appeared at first that the dog wouldn't survive. But fire crews didn't give up and began administering CPR to the dog.

The dog perked up and started breathing on its own.
