Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Car

— A 57-year-old man reportedly was struck by a car and killed Saturday as he tried to cross Highway 64.

The accident occurred about 6 p.m. Authorities said that Robert Parker was trying to cross 64 about a mile west of Raleigh Street when he was hit by a westbound car.

Parker was transported to Nash General Hospital and died a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Parker reportedly suffered minor lacerations on his hand.

No charges were filed at the time of the accident.
