Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County's expansion of year-round schools is moving forward.

Tuesday, the

school board

approved turning Turner Creek Elementary into a year-round school for kindergarten through fourth grades when the school opens in 2004.

It also designated Carpenter Village Elementary, which is scheduled to open in 2004, as a ninth-grade center for Green Hope High School. The board supported the concept of creating a ninth-grade center for Cary High School, but did not designate a location.

Board members also decided a new elementary school and middle school in western Wake County will become year-round. Those campuses will be determined after further study.
