FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Fort Bragg soldiers are getting new clothes and equipment to help them on the battlefield.

Soldiers with the 1st Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division are being outfitted with new gear to help them feel more comfortable and safer while in the field.

Officials said the new gear will help soldiers deal with the cold weather while in Afghanistan.

"They've told us what they need, and we've got back and found solutions to what they need, and we are rapidly fielding it to soldiers as they get ready to go into the theater now," said Maj. Andy MacDonald, of the U.S. Army.

The new equipment includes helmets made of kevlar, special underwear, boots, gloves, goggles and weapon sights.
