The restrictions only can be lifted after Orange County and the towns of ChapelHill and Carrboro issue proclamations to do so. OWASA's action is a recommendation to those boards, who still can choose to stick with restrictions, although they usually agree with OWASA.
OWASA
made its recommendation at a meeting Thursday night.
Officials said the action followed the more than 10 inches of rainfall in October and November, which raised the water supply from only 33 percent of capacity in early October to 75 percent of capacity in November.
The board will hold another meeting on the Nov. 20 to talk about water conservation measures for next year.
