Two Charged With Beating Death Of Roanoke Rapids Man

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Two men are in custody in the beating death of a Roanoke Rapids businessman.

Police said John Howard, who worked at Daniel's Barber Shop, was found dead in his home Monday.

Jeff Harris, 21, and Michael Anthony Freeman, 23, were charged with first-degree murder, burglary, and conspiracy to commit robbery. They are being held without bond.
