RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire at a North Raleigh shopping center early Tuesday morning.

Officials said the crews were called out at 12:40 a.m. to the fire at 5720 Capital Boulevard. The fire is believed to have started in the Yolanda Nail Salon at the Centre One Shopping Center.

"Our units actually indicated they noticed smoke in the sky prior to arrival," said Frank Warner, district fire chief."Upon our arrival, we had heavy fire from the roof area, flames probably 10 to 15 feet in the air."

Warner said the nail salon suffered heavy fire damage and businesses on either side suffered heat and smoke damage. Overall, he said that damage was minimal.
