Lobbying Effort Pays Off For Moore County Poultry Lab

Posted Updated

ROBBINS, N.C. — A poultry research lab in Moore County will survive state budget cuts after all.

State lawmakers had approved a budget that would have closed the 50-year-old facility in Robbins.

Local leaders say a last-minute lobbying effort paid off to keep the lab open.

"People never give up and the folks on our team never gave up. We kept asking and begging and pleading and people kept writing letters," Robbins Mayor Mickey Brown said.

State lawmakers added the lab to a technical corrections bill in the last hours of the session.
