Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Campus police at North Carolina State University are investigating a robbery and an attempted robbery on campus Monday night.

Campus police

said a man approached a woman at the Sullivan Parking lot around 7:30 p.m. and demanded her purse. The woman ran away and was not harmed.

In the second incident, two men approached a male student on Cates Avenue near the Price Music Center and demanded money. Police said one of the suspects punched the student and took his cellphone.

The victim noticed several bystanders by the student union, located next door, and yelled at the suspects to give him the phone back, according to campus police. The suspects reportedly threw the cellphone and took off running.

NCSU police are also investigating two robberies that occurred on campus early Friday morning. Police say four students were robbed while walking along Memorial Drive near Carmichael Gym. A short time later, police say another student was robbed on Dan Allen Drive. Police say the same suspect may be responsible for both robberies on Friday.

Police said the description given by the female victim in Monday's robbery is similar to the

suspect description

given last week.
