NCSU Police Look For Suspect In Campus Robberies

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police at North Carolina State University are looking for a man suspected of robbing five students.

The incidents happened around 3 a.m. Friday on Memorial Drive near Carmichael Gym. Public safety officials said four students were robbed by a suspect. Police say the suspect implied he had a weapon, but he did not show it.

Police say the suspect punched one student, kicked another. Police said he got away with their wallets.

A short time later, police said the suspect robbed another student on Dan Allen Road near the central pay parking lot. This time, police say the suspect showed a gun and struck the student on the side of the head with it, getting away with a wallet and a watch.

The student was taken to Rex Hospital for treatment of a cut and was later released.

Police described the suspect as a black male in his late 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 180 to 200 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing baggy shorts and a loose-fitting short-sleeve shirt.

Police said the suspect was driving an early '90s model two-door blue or green Saturn. Authorities say he may have a silver semiautomatic handgun so he should be considered armed and dangerous.
