Vance County Mother, Son Arrested In Theft-Ring Case

Posted Updated

VANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Vance County sheriff's deputies arrested a mother and son who they said ran a large theft ring from their Kittrell farm.

Deputies said $250,000 worth of property, including guns, vehicles and drugs, were seized.

Brenda Williams and Brian Currin are charged with possession of stolen property and altering vehicle identification numbers.

Sheriff Thomas Breedlove said the suspects stole items and traded them for drugs. He said the arrests were not easy.

"There were vicious dogs in the fence. I drove up I saw the mother. She said 'Watch out' and I said 'Lady, tie up your dogs. We have a search warrant,'" Breedlove said.

Investigators said more arrests in the theft ring are expected.
