RALEIGH, N.C. — A gun stolen from a Hoke County sheriff's deputy and used by a inmate to escape, has now been recovered.
The gun was found Friday near a bridge at Old Creedmoor Road. The location is not far from the area, where earlier in the week, a Hoke County deputy crashed, while transporting inmate Richard Elliott.
Elliott allegedly stole the deputy's gun and was on the run for nearly four hours before he was recaptured.
