Boyfriend Of Murdered Raleigh Woman Says He Wants Justice

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Stephanie Bennett was killed almost two months ago. Police questioned her boyfriend, and they cleared him. Now, he says he wants to see the killer brought to justice.

Walter Robinson says he and Bennett had a close relationship. The couple met in 1997 at Roanoke College in Virginia and have dated ever since.

"It just seemed like whenever we were around each other, We were together, everything was right, everything fit," he says.

Bennett was strangled and sexually assaulted in her Raleigh apartment in May. She had planned to move to Greenville, S.C., in July to be near Robinson.

Robinson said his main focus these days is hoping police can catch Bennett's killer.

"Somebody that does something like this is just an animal," he said.

Police continue to follow leads in the case. They said a JVC stereo was taken from the apartment. Police say the killer may try to pawn it off.

Police have no suspects in the case. Anyone with any information about the case is asked to contact the Raleigh Police Department.
