Raleigh and Wake County governments back the Classic and this year the newly formed Capital Area Sports Foundation, a subsidiary of Capitol Broadcasting Co., will manage the three-day event.
"The contest focuses on great football, but the entire weekend is much more than that. When you add in the tailgate parties, golf tournaments, concerts and all of the special events, that makes this an unique and festive occasion for all involved," Wake County Commissioner Linda Coleman said.
Capitol Broadcasting is the parent company of WRAL-TV.
