FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — More than 6,000 people packed a Fayetteville parking lot for a free concert Wednesday evening.
Def Leppard, the popular 1980s hard rock band, performed outside the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Raeford Road.
Some fans arrived early in the morning for a prime spot. Many people braved the hot sun for hours, and some even had to be treated by paramedics for heat exhaustion.
Die-hard fans said they were in shock to see the band come to Fayetteville.
"They're a big group. I couldn't believe they'd come here and open up for Wal-Mart. What else can you ask for?" fan Donna Paul said.
Band members stayed to sign autographs after the big show.
