Former Lab Tech Accused In Death Of Chatham County Pet

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Chatham County man who is accused of threatening to kill his family also faces animal cruelty charges.

Michael Alston, a former animal lab technician at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is in the Chatham County Jail on $25,000 bond.

Chatham County deputies believe Alston is also connected to the death of his mother's dog, although he has not been charged.

The family returned from vacation to find the dog skinned in their driveway.
