CARY, N.C. — A preliminary investigation into a fire at a Cary gardening center last Tuesday points to an electrical problem with the air conditioning or attic fan.
A final report on the fire at the Garden Supply Co. is expected this week.
Cary officials said the manufacturer of the fire department's ladder truck, which collapsed while crews were fighting the fire, is taking responsibility for its failure.
Pierce Manufacturing will replace the ladder in the 1998 truck. The work is expected to take two months.
In the meantime, the company has provided the Cary Fire Department a loaner aerial truck. Crews are training on it this week before it goes into service.
Two firefighters who were injured when the ladder collapsed are expected return to work Thursday.
