Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A third suspect is charged with burning a dog in Rocky Mount last month.

Police said the 16-year old, who turned himself in, was charged with animal cruelty and was released on $6,000 bond.

Two other teenage suspects are accused of dousing the puppy with gasoline and setting it on fire in May.

According to her owner, the blue tick coon hound, named Cagney, helped extinguish the fire by rolling on the ground.

Cagney was treated for burns on 60 percent of her body. Her veterinarian expects she will be OK.
