RALEIGH, N.C. — The State Board of Education has a lot on its plate this week at its monthly meeting.
On Wednesday, board members considered a federal mandate called "No Child Left Behind," which encourages states to help every child move to the next grade. They also talked about closing the achievement gap between white and African-American students.
