Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers Holds Barbecue Fund-Raiser

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The

Fayetteville-Cumberland County branch of Crimestoppers

held a fund-raising barbecue on Friday. The money helps pay out rewards for people who call in with anonymous tips.

Since the program started in 1984, Crimestoppers has recovered nearly $6 million in stolen property and narcotics and arrested more than 2,000 felons.

"It's citizens getting involved, remaining anonymous, telling us where wanted people are, where cocaine or drugs are or where illegal activity is going on. It helps out a lot," said Sgt. Steve McIntosh of the Fayetteville Police Department.

Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers has handed out more than $183,000 since the program started 18 years ago.

If you have information regarding criminal activity, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at

(919) 483-TIPS.
