Chapel Hill Pit Bull Owner Served 12 Years For Murder

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A local woman said that she is surprised to see a man who shot her in the news again.

Officials have cited Ralph Logner five times in recent weeks because his pit bulls have escaped twice from his Chapel Hill home.

In 1987, a jury convicted Logner of shooting Elizabeth Newcomb and killing her husband. Logner served 12 years in prison.

"He stole my life, he took away my husband. He cost me a lot of anguish and a lot of grief that I've been dealing with for 15 years," Newcomb said.

Chapel Hill police talked to Logner on Wednesday. They are tryng to find out who stole his two pit bulls from the Orange County animal shelter on Sunday.
