Authorities Search For Answers In Fatal Knightdale Auto Accident

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A family of three died when its car hit a brick wall and burst into flames in Knightdale.

Dexter Wall, 19, was driving along Eagle Rock Road late Tuesday night when he somehow lost control of his car, crossed the median and crashed into a 2-foot-tall brick wall at the home of Sarah Neal.

"I had gone to bed and I heard a loud boom. It sounded like something had fallen from the sky. We didn't know whether a plane or what has crashed," Neal said. "When we came over, we saw that the car was engulfed in flames."

Authorities said the car flipped over several times and then exploded. Wall, 24-year-old Kendra Davis and their son, Devin, died in the accident.

"He was well-respected and a good boy. He was with his girlfriend and his new son," said Wanda Mullin, Wall's aunt. "It's just a tragedy for the family."

Authorities are trying to determine whether speed was a factor in the accident.
