Durham Man Remains In Jail On Charges Of Assaulting Teen, Toddler

Posted Updated

DURHAM — A man charged with binding and gagging a 3-year-old Durham girl with duct tape and severely beating her teenage sister will stay in jail.

Samuel King, 25, is charged with first-degree kidnapping, breaking and entering, assault and attempted murder. A judge refused to lower King's bond when he appeared in court Monday.

Investigators say King beat the teen, then bound the child with duct tape, put her in a trash bag and locked her in the attic.

The little girl is in good condition Monday at an area hospital.

King turned himself in to authorities Friday night and is in the Durham County jail with bond set at $1 million.

Authorities say King is a former boyfriend of the teenager. The victims' family said they liked King when he was dating their daughter.
