Dunleavy, Duhon Named Duke Captains For 2002-03

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that forwardMike Dunleavy and guard Chris Duhon were named team captains for the2002-03 season. Dunleavy will serve as a captain for the secondconsecutive season.

Dunleavy, a first team All-America selection this season by BasketballTimes and the NABC, averaged 17.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and2.3 steals per game. The versatile Dunleavy earned second teamAll-America honors by the Associated Press and USBWA. One of only sixplayers in the nation to receive votes for the 2002 AP National Playerof the Year Award, he was also named Swing Forward of the Year by ESPNthe Magazine last week. Dunleavy was also a second team AcademicAll-America and first team All-ACC pick in 2001-02. He becomes the 18thtwo-time team captain in Duke basketball history.

One of the nation's top defenders, Duhon averaged 8.9 points, 3.1rebounds, 5.9 assists and 2.3 steals in 2001-02. The Slidell, La.,native led the team in assists (208) and steals (81) as a sophomore. Hewas an ACC All-Defensive Team selection by both the coaches and themedia in 2001-02. Named to the 2002 ACC All-Tournament second team,Duhon was an honorable mention All-ACC performer in 2001-02.

Dunleavy will be a senior at Duke next season, while Duhon will be ajunior.
