Three Students At Pine Forest H.S. Exposed To Tuberculosis

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Some parents and students in Cumberland County are resting easy after receiving results from their tuberculosis test at Pine Forest High School.

Last week, the Cumberland County Health Department tested close to 400 students and staff workers. Three people tested positive for TB exposure. However, that does not necessarily mean they have tuberculosis, but that they have been exposed to the disease either by a student or someone else.

"If you look at our 380 students and less than three have tested positive for TB, I think we can pretty much rest assured that this has not been a significant amount of exposure at the high school," health director Janet Lindbloom said.

Seventeen students who were either absent last week or transferred out of Pine Forest High School last week still require testing.
