GOLDSBORO, N.C. — After more than 20 years in the mayor's seat in Goldsboro, Hal Plonk was laid to rest on Wednesday.
Plonk was remembered with a 21-gun salute from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. More than 100 people stood in freezing temperatures to pay their respects to Mayor Plonk.
Plonk died Saturday after a two-year battle with leukemia. He was 80 years old.
