Hometown Hello: Performing Arts Centers
WRAL's "Hometown Hello" visits towns with booming performing arts centers.Posted — Updated
The Durham Performing Arts Center hosts more than 150 events each year. The "Lion King" musical was a roaring success there, and the center has also featured Adele, Aretha Franklin and the musical "Wicked."
The Clayton Center drew 120,000 visitors to its historic auditorium in downtown in 2010. It offers great values and features performers such as humorist Jeanne Robertson.
The Cary Arts Center opened in the summer of 2011 in an elementary school that underwent a $13 million renovation. The center has a 390-seat theater, classrooms, studios and gallery space.
Holly Springs Cultural Center
This $5 million complex offers an intimate performing arts theater and an outdoor stage. It hosts the Clean Comedy Series.
The Carrboro ArtsCenter offers great local theater productions. It also has an excellent dance studio and promotes aspiring musicians.
