Holiday Decorations Stolen From Wake County Neighborhoods

Posted Updated

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — There appears to be a Scrooge running around in Wake County.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office said that the thefts and vandalism of holiday displays have been concentrated in northern and eastern parts of the county.

Hundreds of lawn ornaments decorate Brenda Davis' property, but last Sunday, someone tore up part of her display, taking some of the items and leaving others on the side of the road.

"I was a little angry. I wish I had a switch like the old days and I would whip them if I caught them," she said.

Davis said part of the reason that she was upset was that she has a heart condition, and it takes a lot of work to set everything up. She said she usually gets started putting up her display around Thanksgiving.

Investigators said that plastic reindeer are especially popular with the thieves.

Anyone with information regarding the case should contact the sheriff's office or the Raleigh Police Department.
