New State Laws Take Effect Dec. 1

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Several new state laws became effective Saturday, Dec. 1.

Pumping gasoline and then driving off without paying could cost motorists their drivers' licenses.

In four-lane traffic, motorists will be required to change lanes to accomodate stopped emergency vehicles when their lights are flashing.

Stronger punishment also goes into effect for anyone trying to buy liquor with false ID and for those who buy or sell drugs near child care centers, public parks and playgrounds.
