RALEIGH — The renewed wave of patriotism is changing the color of holiday decorating.
At Lassiter Mill Garden Shop in Raleigh, one of the many trees there is decorated in red, white and blue. Even Santa is a flag-waving American patriot.
Employees there said that the hottest ornament at the store is a plain fireman's helmet.
In fact, many of the newer ornaments inspired by the events of Sept. 11 are collectibles that are expected to increase in value.
"A lot of the manufacturers have decided to use some of the proceeds from their sales to benefit the victims of the disaster in New York," said employee Cheryl Dorney.
