DURHAM — Durham Public Schools installed a new leader this year at Hillside High School. Now, that principal is at the center of controversy.
Henry Pankey took the reins after the former principal was reassigned.
School board member Dr. Regina George-Bowden asked the district's attorney to determine whether Henry Pankey's "tough love" approach steps beyond acceptable behavior and school policy.
Parents complain that Pankey suspends students who defy the dress code and that he uses techniques which humiliate students.
