ROBESON COUNTY — One family in Robeson County has a few extra mouths to feed this Thanksgiving.
Lori and Bruce Sampson adopted 37 dogs from the Robeson County Animal Shelter this week moments before the canines were supposed to be euthanized.
Animal activists filed a lawsuit against the county earlier this month saying the shelter was euthanizing animals inhumanely.
The county has since changed its euthanization process, but in the meantime the Sampsons want to save as many animals as they can.
"I was more than happy to offer my time, property, care, and love for the animals," says Laurie Sampson. "Sometimes that's worth a little bit more than anything else."
The Sampsons say they will try to adopt out as many animals as they can and bring in new animals when they have space.
