RALEIGH, N.C. — There is good news on the horizon for burley tobacco farmers. They can expect the overall market price to be better than last year.
Last year's record average was $1.95 cents a pound for burley tobacco. This year, the price is expected to be about $2 a pound.
Experts say greater competition and declining world production are helping prices.
