ZEBULON, N.C. — Investigators want to know what sent dozens of people at a Zebulon church to the hospital Saturday night.
People at the Heritage Baptist Church went to the emergency room, complaining of watery eyes and irritated skin.
Raleigh's Hazmat team was called in to investigate. Investigators spent the day combing the church grounds, but they have not come up with any answers.
"Our guess, right now, is that maybe a student may have brought in mace or something like that which was sprayed in a locker room and that may cause some kind of irritation to the people," said Zebulon Fire Chief Sidney Perry.
All church events and activities will go on as scheduled.
