DURHAM — The city of Durham wants to make your holiday season brighter.
"Light Up Durham"
celebration is scheduled for December 1. The day-long event is filled with art, food, music, a parade and fireworks.
This year's theme is "Together, We Grow Stronger."
"We must unite to continue to shape and mold our city into a place where children feel safe riding their bikes in front of their homes, a place where education is valued, a place where we are enriched by the culture and a place that we feel proud to call home," said James Ammons, chancellor of N.C. Central University.
Light Up Durham is also an event where you can honor someone who has made your life brighter.
You can help decorate Triangle Hospice's 10th Annual Tree of Remembrance by purchasing a glass ornament or ceramic bell in honor of a loved one. The tree will be on display at South Square Mall.
You can also remember or honor someone by purchasing a light in their name. Two-thousand lights will shine from the Lights of Honor Sculpture.
