DOT Employee Involved In I-40 Crash Dies

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — A state Department of Transportation employee has passed away, three weeks after an accident along Interstate 40 left him in a coma.

Roscoe Narron, 65, was inside an assistance vehicle last month when he was hit by another car. Narron had his lights on and was stopped behind two state police cruisers along the side of the highway.

Narron, who had been in a coma for three weeks, was taken off life support at WakeMed shortly before his death.

There is no word on whether any criminal charges will be filed.

Earlier this year, Narron was recognized as a good samaritan for his work along North Carolina roads.
