Gun Sales Start To Rise As More People Arm Themselves

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — More people are trying to protect themselves after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. They are actively seeking out ways to gain a greater sense of security.

People who have never even thought about owning a gun are now arming themselves. Gun dealers say they are running out of guns to sell and classes on safety are full.

"People are concerned about their personal safety and ability to protect themselves," says gun shop owner Mike Tilley.

The handgun classes at the Personal Defense and Handgun Safety Center in Raleigh are booked through the end of the year. The owner is now thinking about adding some new classes.
