Raleigh Mayoral Candidate Gets Backing From Police

The Police Benevolent Association, the Police Protective Association and the Professional Fire Fighters Association announced they are standing behind Meeker.

The groups say it is time for a change.

"We're sort of at a crossroads. There's some things with retention, recruiting of officers, pay and benefits. The working conditions and the morale of the police department. We need progressive leadership, we got that in the manager's office and in the police chief. We think meeker will complete that circle of leadership,"

Meeker faces Mayor Paul Coble in Tuesday's election.
