UNC Expansion Vote Set For Wednesday

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL — After a year of bickering and bargaining, the Chapel Hill town council is set to vote on the UNC expansion plan Wednesday night.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill plans to expand its campus by six million square feet.

The proposed development includes a new arts commons, a new science complex and a large academic building.

The sticking point has been centered around the proposed student family housing along Mason Farm Road. Longtime neighbors say it will compromise their quality of life.

The town council meets at 7 p.m.
