Learning about history has no limits, especially when it comes to our planet and all the living creatures who live here.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences opens a new exhibit that features animals with remarkable self-defense.

Discover how animals protect themselves from predators in the wild. The "Staying Alive" exhibition features 17 live animals from around the world, including hedgehogs from Madagascar.
Some animals blend into their environments using camouflage, others have specialized armor, such as spikes or quills. Some animals have more lethal defense strategies such as stink bombs, "caboose cannons" and smoke screens.
Whether they hide in plain sight or stand and fight, the exhibit showcases all the unique ways of self-defense.
There are live encounters that encourage participation with the animals, 3D and interactive programs, as well as larger-than-life sculptures.
It will open on March 14 and be open until Aug. 23.
Admission is free for museum members and children under two.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $14 for children.
