A South Garner High School student has been arrested after he was accused of bringing a gun and drugs on school grounds on Thursday.

Police said officers arrested 18-year-old Jayden Curtis. According to the Garner Police Department, the incident happened in the parking lot at South Garner High School.

School resource officers and school administrators worked together quickly to ensure students and staff were safe and the situation was safely contained, police said.

No students, staff or officers were hurt during the incident, and there is no threat to the community.

Police said Curtis is being held in the Wake County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond and will be charged as an adult. He faces several charges, including:

  • Gun on educational property
    • Alter/remove gun serial number
      • Resist, delay, obstruct (RDO)
        • Maintain vehicle/dwelling for controlled substance
          • Simple possession of marijuana
            • Possession of marijuana paraphernalia

              Officers said the investigation is ongoing. Curtis is expected back in court at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
