A man was shot Tuesday in a road rage incident in Johnston County on U.S. Highway 70 near Princeton.
Sky 5 flew over the large scene at U.S. 70 and Shoreline Drive at 8 a.m. At least five law enforcement vehicles were on scene, including the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies at the scene told WRAL News one man was shot and taken to the hospital after a road rage incident. There was no update on his condition.
Radio traffic indicates the shooting happened around 7:30 a.m.:
"Responding to 70 East for a fight. One subject's been shot ... one is a work truck with a trailer behind it. The other is a Chevy Impala."
WRAL News was told an investigation is ongoing.
According to the Pew Research Center, road rage incidents involving guns are more common and deadlier since the pandemic.
WRAL has covered more than a dozen road rage incidents in our area since the start of last year. Kurt Gray was a professor at UNC-Chapel Hill and is currently at Ohio State University. He studies moral psychology. Gray said everyday stress may be contributing to the short tempers on the road.
"It’s not probably just road rage that’s up," Gray said. "It’s probably rage in general when we are feeling under threat, when we’re feeling uncertain about the future. We’re more likely to perceive all sorts of things negatively."
