Shots fired at moving cars in Wake County, deputies investigating

Shots were fired at two moving cars on Monday, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 8:45 p.m., deputies responded to a report of shots being fired at a car traveling near Wendell Falls Parkway and Eagle Rock Road.

Deputies were also investigating shots fired at a car on Interstate 540 near Buffaloe Road around 8:30 p.m.

Without a suspect in custody, residents in this area say they are worried that something like this could happen again.

“Especially because this is a family neighborhood. It’s very scary for everybody in here,” Mariella Delouise, resident said. 

The two locations are about a 15-minute drive apart; however, the sheriff’s office has not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected or merely similar.

Residents in these areas say they are nervous because of the eerie similarity between these shootings and a string of shootings last month in Raleigh along I-40.

 “Apparently other people have gotten the same bad idea. It’s pretty frightening," Steen Jensen, resident said. "You can’t drive in your car without fearing that someone will shoot at you on the road. It’s bad.”

A suspect has been arrested in the I-40 shooting case and is now facing multiple charges.

In November, a man was charged in a string of shootings into occupied homes and cars in Raleigh and Cary. Several of the shootings occurred on I-40, and a woman was injured.
