A happy, sweet, lovable mother of two, is how family and friends describe 38-year-old Alana Enoicy. 

“[She was] full of life,” her cousin Daniel Kinney told WRAL through tears. “One of the happiest persons in the world you could find.”

Raleigh police say 65-year-old Keith Atkinson killed her with a stolen handgun. He appeared in a Wake County courtroom around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

“Keith! Keith!” Kinney called across the Wake County courtroom, as Atkinson walked out. “You’re lucky!”

Atkinson did not respond as the bailiffs escorted him out of the courtroom in handcuffs. He faces two felony charges: murder and possession of a stolen gun.

Thursday night, Police say they found Enoicy with a gunshot wound when they arrived to Cantwell Court just before 8 p.m. She died at the hospital.

The relationship between Enoicy and Atkinson is still unclear., however police say the two knew each other. He currently has no bond.  

His next court date is scheduled for April 17.
