3 shot, 1 dead at Durham apartment building

Durham police are investigating the shooting of three men at an apartment building on Delbert Avenue on the morning of New Year's Day.

One person, 40-year-old Breon Currie, died in the shooting.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker captured video of police tape surrounding an apartment home on Delbert Avenue near Marne Avenue. The Durham Mobile Command Unit was there. 

Police radio traffic indicated there was a reported shooting around just after 12 a.m. Currie was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Jason Lassiter said he called 911 after he heard someone say they had been shot.

"I was scared for everyone when I heard shots fired," Lassiter said.

A forensic team arrived before 7 a.m.

There is no word on what led to the shooting. The other two victims' identities were not released.
