Getting to and from Raleigh-Durham International Airport could soon get easier.
The airport is set to receive $25 million from the federal government to widen John Brantley Boulevard, the main road that connects the airport's main terminals.

The project, which would realign and widen the road from two lanes to four, is expected to eventually make getting to the departure and arrivals lanes easier.
U.S. Sen. Ted Budd, R-N.C., said in a social media post that the project funding was a top priority of North Carolina's congressional delegation.
RDU had 15.5 million travelers go through its doors in 2024, up 6.5% from 2023. It's considered one of the fastest growing airports in the country.
The funding will come from a federal program to boost the country's infrastructure, including roads, transit, rail and aviation.
RDU has a $24.1 billion annual economic impact, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation Division of Aviation.
An RDU spokesperson said road construction will start fall of 2026 with a target competition date of sometime in 2030. The widening will cost around $166 million in total.
On Tuesday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced the around $488 million in awards from the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program will go toward 30 projects across the country.
