Raleigh Rotary launches America 250 Oak City Tree campaign with first planting in Moore Square

Monday marked the beginning of the America 250 Oak City Tree campaign.

Raleigh Rotary plans to plant 250 oak trees throughout the City of Oaks to celebrate 250 years of American independence. It began with a symbolic planting in Moore Square on Monday.

The Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776. The nation will mark 250 years with events all across the country in 2026.

The trees planted this year in Raleigh will help to create a healthier, greener and more connected city for generations to come.
