Raleigh Market reopens after NC State Fair break, some indoor shops move outside due to roof repairs

The Raleigh Market reopened Saturday after a monthlong break for the North Carolina State Fair.

The market is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays except during October, when the annual state fair is held.

The indoor shops housed in the Commercial and Education Buildings will remain closed for a roofing project. The shops are expected to re-open in late spring 2026 once repairs are made.

Some inside vendors are relocating outside into open-air spaces or storage pods during the construction.

“A lot of our customers are coming back to see us out here, so we’re excited,” said Gold and Silver Unlimited owner Deborah Lee.

Kidds Frames will temporarily relocate to the south lobby of Dorton Arena.

Other vendors will return when the buildings reopen in spring 2026. Outdoor vendor spaces will not be impacted.

Kenneth Maxil with Bundts By Brenée explained the decision to move outside into a storage pod.

“We wanted to be able to continue to serve our customers,” Maxil said. “We built a relationship with people [who] would come every week here to the market, and we still want to provide that for them, so that’s why we moved outside.”

DC Art Studios owner Daniel Colvard explained his decision to use a storage pod. He said he needs to store his art in dark environments because of his usage of fluorescent paints.

“I figured I could try and make it as dark as humanly possible because that’s been my biggest battle around here is fighting that light,” Colvard said.

The Raleigh Market is one of the largest flea markets in the Southeast, offering everything from antiques to handicrafts, furniture and homemade goods. Parking is free.
